A charming, coloured botanical engraving of an American Aloe plant. Small tear to left bottom of engraving. Marks around the mount are camera reflection. Prussia 18th century.

The text reads:

Image of the beautiful American Aloe in his majesty’s the king of Prussia’s pleasure garden in Kopenick. Under the careful care of the gardener Johann Siberts for many years and on 25th May this 1712 started to grow this stalk and continued till the 23rd August. It is 44years old and 31ft high ( Prussian feet ) and has 44 branches on which were counted 7277 flowers.
