An impressive console table in the Italian neoclassical style. Decorated with emperor heads, acanthus leaves, swags, flowers and hoof feet with gilded elements. The top and the feet are painted faux porphyry. Porphyry, from the Greek purple is a red to purple granite.  It was prized through the ages and has always been restricted for use by the ruling classes. Gilding refreshed. Italy, late 18th century.
