PAIR OF LOUIS XV ARMCHAIRS WITH MAKERS STAMPS CIRCA 1770
A lovely pair of Louis XV period armchairs with a stained wood frame, and velvet upholstery. One of the two chairs is stamped N Baudin for Noel Baudin, Parisian master carpenter born in 1719. Having worked in rue Saint Nicolas and rue du Faubourg, Saint Martin, he became a master on July 30, 1763. He made chairs for Louis XV and Louis XVI. He died in 1784.
The other chair is stamped E .T NAUROY. Étienne Nauroy, a Parisian carpenter registered his letters of mastery on April 11, 1765. He operated a workshop in rue Saint-Merry, producing fine furniture including a pair of dog kennels for Marie Antoinette, pictured.
